"Allegory Of Time, Drawing, 19th Century"
Drawing representing Time, depicted in the form of a winged old man holding an hourglass and a scythe, led on a swan-shaped boat steered by a putto. The hourglass symbolizes the inexorable flow of time, while the scythe evokes its destructive power. The bottom of the sheet features a number (initials BS) surrounded by two flowering branches joined by a knot. The paper is decorated with several embossed motifs: acanthus leaves all around the edge and, in the upper part, a divinity leaning on an anchor, a coat of arms decorated with a rose and surmounted by a crown on which a cherub leans, as well as Cupid holding a quiver of arrows.
