Watercolor with India ink framing strip. 31.3 x 44 cm, mounted on a 36.6 x 46 cm cardboard sheet. Slight crease mark at the bottom right and scratches along the upper edge. Signed at the bottom right of the drawing: “Francisque Philippon in Hamburg, 1803”. The title is on a label glued to the support, under the drawing (the upper right corner of the label is missing): “Premier essai qu’offrit à l’amour mater[nel], D’un fils reconnaissance le talent naturel”. Funerary monument bearing the name “Kunstort” (= place of art or artistic site in German). To its right: an obelisk bearing the inscription “Cy gissent très infortunées victimes du plus malheurs fate… morts à Hambourg le 4 décembre 1802”. Ref. A13-84
