"Paul Lajoie. View Of The Villa Marijo In èze (alpes-maritimes), French Riviera, 1933."
Watercolor. Oval format, 41.5 x 28.5 cm, in a rectangular frame of 51.5 x 38.5 cm. Signed at the bottom of the drawing: “To Mr. & Mrs. Sosé-Néetens, on the occasion of St. Henri, July 14, 1933, P. Lajoie, architect MC” Title and date top left: “Villa Marijo, Èze-sur-Mer, 1933”. Paul Lajoie (1866-1940) first studied and worked in Valenciennes (Nord), before being a student of Louis Jules André and Victor Laloux at the École des Beaux-arts in Paris from 1886 to 1890. He worked mainly in Nord-Pas-de-Calais and on the Côte-d'Azur from Monte-Carlo. He was also inspector of diocesan works in Oran (Algeria) from 1895 to 1897. Èze is located on the Côte d'Azur, between Nice and Monaco. Ref. A13-32
