"Eastern Borders Of The Russian Empire Bodice Buckle "
Fibula or bodice buckle in bronze enhanced with silver filigree and decorated in its center with a red stone, probably a garnet. It is made up of two parts, with sharp hooks at the ends to stick into the fabric of the garment to be closed, and in the center a device to open it at will. On each side the jewel ends with a coat of arms surmounted by the double-headed eagle. The presence of this ornament attached to the Russian empire, the oriental character of the jewel (close to the Ottoman models) leads us to think of an object belonging to the traditional culture of Kazakhstan, a country irrigated by these two great neighborhoods. I myself was able to observe Kazakh dancers wearing similar jewels under their chests, closing a traditional garment, during dance performances. This beautiful old and traditional jewel has a strong character, and evokes lands rich in mysterious epics.
