Important Gien faience table service, “Rambouillet” pattern, designed by Jean Bertholle in the 1950s.

Inspired by the world of hunting and the forest, the decoration features a variety of animal scenes: deer, roe deer, wild boar, woodcock, pheasants, ducks and other game, rendered in a rich palette of autumnal tones.

The service comprises 46 pieces for 18 people:

• 18 dinner plates, decorated with various animals and birds
• 18 soup plates, decorated with various animals and birds
• 4 serving dishes, decorated with wild boar, deer and roe deer
• 2 vegetable dishes, decorated with woodcock
• 2 partridge-shaped sauce boats
• 2 trivets, decorated with dogs

Created in the 1950s, the Rambouillet pattern is closely associated with the tradition of the presidential hunts at Rambouillet and is now considered one of the manufactory’s most sought-after historic designs.
