"Plate From Rambervillers (vosges) With The Small House - Late 18th, Early 19th Century"
Rambervillers (Vosges) plate with a small house motif - Late 18th, Early 19th century. This high-fired plate features 86 gadroons (characteristic of this manufacturer). The decoration depicts two adjoining houses, one with a chimney, the other with two flags. An arched tree completes the design, all within a border surrounded by blue beads. Note the amusing shape of one of the doors (a face = the painter's signature, found in a photograph in a reference book). A similar plate is reproduced in a reference book about this manufacturer (see last photos). The plate has a small hairline crack at 3 o'clock and slight crazing. No repairs or chips. There are a few small losses of glaze on the beads of the circular decoration. Diameter: 22.5 cm
