Rambervillers Plate With A Bird, Late 18th Century
Late 18th-century Rambervillers plate with a bird motif. This very rare plate is attributable to Rambervillers due to its diameter of 22.9 cm, height of 30 mm, weight of 371 g, and its six-lobed shape. Other plates reproduced in the reference books I usually cite share the same characteristics. This grand feu plate features a decoration unknown in these colors and form. Traditionally, the bird is also depicted facing left, but in red tones (petit feu). The same applies to the branches resting on the mound. The plates are in perfect condition: no cracks, no repairs, no chips. Only two tiny glaze chips (1 to 2 mm) are noted on the rim (see last photo).
