"Pair Of Louis XV Period Armchairs, Rhône Valley, 18th Century, Circa 1740"
Superb pair of Louis XV period walnut armchairs à la Reine, circa 1740. Typical of the ornamental aesthetic that reigned between 1730 and 1750, our seats feature rich rocaille carving throughout their woodwork, falling florets on the top of the backs, harmoniously distributed leafy scrolls and ascending acanthus leaves on the legs. Rare ornamental motif of a burst pomegranate framed by foliage and florets and presented in a cartouche on the top of the back and on the belt. The work connecting the armrest console with the belt is perfectly executed. Curves and counter-curves are carved in an energetic molding. Well-upholstered, our armchairs are covered in an elegant chalk pink velvet fabric with leafy patterns. They are equipped with large soft cushions which give an extremely comfortable seat to the whole.
