Suzanne Coponal (20th century): "The large bouquet of phlox", oil on granite paper mounted on cardboard 72 X 99 cm. Small trace of a fold at the bottom right, cardboard a little warped, not varnished, on the back a label from the framer and gallery owner from Lyon E. Pouillé-Lecoultre. Circa 1930. Originally presented under dirty glass in a damaged frame, once removed, this bouquet appears against a background of gentle hills in its luminous clarity served by a large format. We know practically nothing about the Artist, except that she was active in Lyon, the homeland of flower painters, in the interwar period.
