Gaston La Touche (1854-1913) (attributed to): "Preparatory study for The Swan Fountain", oil on panel 41 X 33 cm. Unsigned, circa 1898. A prolific author, he touched on all genres, providing both immense wall decorations and numerous illustrations, including etchings and sculptures. He often treated the theme of the Bacchus fountain in the Park of the Palace of Versailles, as in the painting in the Musée d'Orsay, populating its basin with nymphs and swans, the jet treated in this characteristic touch in the shape of an elongated drop.
