These antique still life paintings with flowers depict a vase of spring flowers with peach or cherry blossoms, dating to the
Art Nouveau / Art Deco period. A fine oil painting on canvas from the early 20th century.
The glazed ceramic vase, in warm natural tones, holds a carefully arranged floral bouquet. The composition includes laburnum
branches with their distinctive drooping yellow blossoms, an antique pink rose, and delicate peach or cherry flowers,
rendered with soft, vibrant brushstrokes that enhance the chromatic luminosity.
In the foreground, placed on a light surface, are feminine toiletry objects: a white fan, a pink coral necklace, and a dark lacquered box.
An elegant example of European Impressionism.
This antique floral still life, signed upper left Angelina Drumaux, belongs to a painter renowned for floral still lifes, gardens, and seascapes.
Angelina-Marie-Eugénie Drumaux (1881–1959) was a Belgian painter, daughter of Arthur Drumaux, a teacher and poet.
She studied at the Academy of Liège, under Adrien De Witte. In 1902, she held her first solo exhibition at the Cercle Royal des Beaux-Arts
in Liège, followed in 1906 by participation in an exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
From 1908, she regularly exhibited at the Paris Salons of the Société des Artistes Français. In 1913, she received the Triennial Painting Prize,
and in 1949, she was awarded the Order of Leopold. Her works are housed in museums in Ghent, Liège, Arlon, and Paris (Musée du Luxembourg,
Galerie du Jeu de Paume). She was among the few women artists of her generation to earn a living solely from her art.
The antique painting is presented in a carved wooden frame, dating to the 1930s.
Both the oil painting and the antique frame have been professionally restored.
