Veronique Wirbel : “diving Into The Night”

Véronique Wirbel (1950-1990): “Dive into the night”, mixed technique on paper mounted by tension bands on a canvas frame 114 x 146 cm (80 figures), titled, signed and dated 1985 on the back and signed and dated in front. Due to the very texture of the paper the work is a little warped. There are encounters which, in hindsight, seem obvious to you. So it is with the work of Véronique Wirbel, who died tragically at barely 40 years old, abundant like a child's imagination, colorful like the fabrics of Africa that she knew well having spent her childhood there and communicative of 'a joy that apparently, alas! she did not share… Of course, we could find her kinship with Corneille, Basquiat or Aloïse, but she was Wirbel, quite simply. This painting comes from the Artist's workshop which we were lucky enough to be able to acquire and which we will gradually prepare and put up for sale.
