German Baroque Chalice – 17th Century
A 17th century liturgical goldwork from the Hesse region of Germany in repoussé copper and partly gilded and silvered. On a large four-lobed oval foot, the stem is decorated with a golden knot highlighted by a twist.
Smooth gilded surfaces alternate with a decoration of silver acanthus leaves in relief on the foot. The lower half of the dome takes up these reliefs completed by a medallion with beading. Vermeil cup.
