Pair Of Reliquary Busts Of St John The Baptist And St Francis – 18th Century
An Italian work from the end of the 17th or the beginning of the 18th century.
Our two almost identical busts form a beautiful pair in carved, polychromed and gilded wood.
They accommodate in their center, a glazed cartouche which honors a rare ex-ossibus relic of Saint John the Baptist for one and a relic of Saint Francis (Francis in Italian) for the second. On the back, access to these reliquary niches is protected by three wax seals.
