Double Holy Oil Vessel (Liturgical Oil Flask) – 19th century
An object of devotion formerly used by priests during their travels to administer the last rites. It consists of two joined reservoirs, topped with lids adorned with distinctive Christian crosses, which also serve as handles for opening.
Period engravings identifying the holy oils: “S.C.” (Sanctum Chrisma – Holy Chrism) and “D.S.” (an ancient liturgical variant).
Some areas where the silver plating is missing and slightly dented in places (see photos)
