Portrait Of Molière 19th Century Pierre Mignard (after) Jean-baptiste Poquelin
Artist: Pierre Mignard (suiveur De)
Very rare portrait of Molière performing the role of Julius Caesar in a play at the Comédie Française during the reign of Louis XIV.
It is a play written by Pierre Corneille: "the death of Pompey", played for the first time in 1642.
This 19th century painting is a repeat of the painting executed by Nicolas MIGNARD around 1650.
It is painted on panel, presented in its original stucco wood frame, and gilded.
This painting is "in its juice" as I discovered it.
There is, as you can see in the photos one or two small scratches, nothing serious, and a small restoration on the bottom right corner.
Format: with frame: 48 cm x 39.50 cm.
View size: 32 cm x 23.50 cm.
The photos are taken in natural light.
Neat packaging.
Shipping costs at the expense of the buyer.
I remain at your disposal for any additional information and photos.
