Large 18th-century English portrait of a young woman identified as Frances Maria Fountaine, oil on canvas. This magnificent full-length portrait depicts her wearing a white dress, a black Tudor cap trimmed with lace, an ostrich feather, and a ruby, and holding an orange branch (the orange symbolizing purity). Of excellent quality and in perfect condition, it is presented in an antique giltwood and stucco frame decorated with berry motifs. A light professional cleaning would give it a special brilliance.
