Artist: Sculpteur: Claude Michallon (1751-1799) Bronze Attribué A Thomire Ou Feuchère
Large clock in gilded and patinated bronze from the beginning of the 19th century, 1st Empire period. The figure of Psyche crowning Love is the work of the sculptor Claude Michallon (1751-1799) the creation comes from tradition either by the Thomire bronzier (illustration in Decorative bronze of Pierre-Philippe Thomire, Leningrad, 1984 p.59, no 114) or by the bronzier Pierre-François Feuchère (1732-1823) who exhibited in 1816 a comparable model entitled -Pendulum of Psyche crowning Love- Among the models preserved, we can cite those of the Chateau de Fontainebleau, from the museum Marmottan, from the Ministries of War and the Navy in Paris or even at the Brighton Pavilion in England. The two figures are leaning along a terminal where the silver movement with a dial surrounded by a snake motif is housed, the base is decorated with a firepot placed near a sword. The lower rectangular part is decorated with a large arch and two quivers intertwined in a laurel wreath, the whole carried by a ribbon motif. It rests on front feet with figures of Zephyr heads. DIMENSIONS: 70 cm high X 43 cm wide X 15 cm deep. Good state of conservation, wire movement in good working order, bell to be serviced. Bibliography E.
