"Pair Of Empire Engravings: La Main Chaude And Colin Maillard Golden Wood Frames 72.5 X 62.5cm"
Pair of large Empire period engravings in their original gilt wood frames. They show board games in use at the beginning of the 19th century, the "colin maillard" which is still very well known today: the main player is blindfolded and must recognize the other players by groping, and " the hot hand" where the main player must recognize which of the other players is spanking him.The engravings are very amusing, full of picturesque characters, with many small details in the decor depicting the daily life inside an inn or farm at the beginning of the 19th century.
Beautiful pair of engravings in perfect condition : they have been cleaned in an acid bath to whiten them. They are presented in a beautiful wooden frame gilded with gold leaf in excellent condition, the engraving enhanced and illuminated by a blue Marie-Louise, a finish that we have used on many other engravings and which we will continue to do through the following, so as to give the possibility of creating a set.
