Set of 9 anatomical engravings from the "Complete Treatise on the Anatomy of Man" by Dr. Bourgery and the illustrator Jacob.
These plates are authentic, dating from the 1840s, and are taken from the monumental work of Dr. Bourgery, who devoted the last 15 years of his life to its creation.
Unanimously recognized for the finesse of its drawings, this work was created by Professor Jacob, an anatomical illustrator and draftsman, a student of the famous painter of the French Revolution, David.
The work comprises 725 lithographed folio plates in sixteen volumes: eight volumes of text totaling 2108 pages, and eight volumes of plates with 3750 individual figures.
It was published in eighty installments between 1831 and 1854, the last volume being published posthumously. These plates measure approximately 43cm x 30.5cm.
