Beautiful Malayer carpet with floral decoration around 1970 of a respective size: 123 cm x 203 cm, in very good condition, velvet and edges, slight wear from use for the fringes.
Our model presents a very important medallion, with attached red pendants, placed on a midnight blue field covered with flowers, presenting many stylized flowers.
The colors remain soft, red, ivory, chamois, beige, mouse gray, orange, blues.
The beautifully drawn border consists of stylized flowers interlaced with tracery. .
These rugs are knotted in strong, thick, shiny yarn, often dyed with natural dyes and spun by hand.
This yarn gives a resistant surface and a beautiful color palette.
They have in common that they are now woven with cotton warp threads and a weft thread between each row of knots.
The patterns are often geometric, but there are also very elaborate floral patterns like our model.
