Extraordinary silk embroidery framing a religious character from the late 17th century, early 18th century. Portrait of a man in the center medallion, painted in gouache on parchment, probably Julius de' Medici, better known as Pope Clement VII. The periphery of the portrait is embellished with a frieze of silver metallic crocheted threads. Rich decoration of silk embroidery on beige silk representing a multitude of flowers and foliage in pastel tones in a beautiful state of freshness (to be compared to Italian embroidery). The whole remains protected under glass in a rich 18th century style gilded wooden frame in very good condition. Dimensions at sight: 35 cm X 21 cm. Note: beautiful dimensions for this manual work. Delivery: 20€ for metropolitan France.
