"France End XVth, Virgin Of Calvary In Polychromed Wood (h 90 Cm)"

This sculpture of the Virgin of Calvary on a carved oak plinth with remains of polychromy dates from the end of the 15th century.
It is the work of a School in the North of France. Characteristic of the Sorrowful Mother (who is standing), she wears the veil and the wimple, as well as a long coat with pleats.
Hands clasped, gaze down, its execution is in the tradition of the work of Claus Sluter.

Provenance: Benedictine of Perpetual Adoration in Caen.

This sculpture is in good condition with wear and cracks due to time. Flat back with an old hook.
