This solid wood sculpture is a French work from the 16th century, from the Auvergne region.
The Virgin wears a dress with a round neckline belted in front, falling in long folds and a veil forming a drape.
This sculpture, despite the darkness of the wood, emanates a great softness with the gesture of the Child Jesus who puts his right hand towards Mary's ear, and Mary who delicately places her hand on the Child's knee.
Missing due to the centuries.
