Curule Shaped Desk / Game Table Attributed To The Jacob Brothers From The Empire Period

Artist: Attribué Aux Frères Jacob
Beautiful and rare desk but also games table in solid mahogany and mahogany veneer. It consists of a removable tray sheathed in fawn leather decorated with a Greek key, fillets as well as gold palmettes and vases in its center. On the reverse, a luxurious dark green Empire silk velvet playmat finished with a leather lace decorated with a gold Greek frieze. In belt, a drawer discovering a writing desk sheathed in matching leather, two inkwells and various lockers including a secret. Superb curule base in solid mahogany finished with gilt bronze wheels. This desk is largely made of solid mahogany, a sign of high quality and attributable to the Jacob Brothers. Perfectly balanced and inspired by Ancient Rome with its curule (X-shaped) base, the set has been completely restored. Small in size, it will ideally find its place in your interior and will easily blend with a decor from the end of the 18th century, Louis XVI, Directory, Consulate. For collectors.
