"Necessaire Box For Artist, Inlaid, Charles X Period"
Large and heavy box of artist, rosewood inlaid of boxwood, opening with key, fit with two gilt bronze handles chiselled of hands of friendship. On one side, a drawer, which becomes, once unfolded, an easel-display adjustable: lemon veneer background, adjustable brass lectern, green felt, original key. Opening the box, entirement plated with lemon tree, with compartments, we find: 18 round bottles of glass for the color pigments, most still having their golden copper stopper, (but no longer have the cork filling), 6 flasks of square glass, including 3 clogged, for oils, siccatives and varnishes, a pigmented mortar to crush colors, gray agate, good condition. It lacks a lemon tree interior that was used to store brushes, blurs, etc .....
French work, Romantic period, circa 1830, (Charles X).
Good general condition, without major flaws, but details to improve: drawer difficult to pull, missing corks, background mirror and stained stink, likely lack of compartments .... Dimensions: 45cm, 28cm, 16cm, weight: 8.4kg
