Very beautiful 18th-century embroidered courtly scenes.
Each frame depicts a woman and her "suitor" in a bucolic setting.
The faces are rendered in very fine embroidery stitches.
Back frame:
Oval-shaped window in a gilded wooden frame decorated with engraved leaves at each corner.
Dimensions of the visible image: 35.5 cm x 26 cm.
Glass held in place by a strip of gilded gummed paper (some very minor wear on the paper and a small scratch on the glass).
Metal hanging ring on the back.
Note: The rather unique frame enhances the piece as a whole.
