A wooden bird transport cage, opening on two sides, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The cage is likely made of beechwood, cut and stained light brown. It has a door that opens lengthwise with a rectangular window fitted with thin metal bars and a wire handle, as well as a sliding side opening containing a feeder and a perch, also with a metal handle. The system is simple and ingenious: the sliding section occupies the entire base of the cage, allowing for easy cleaning. The slightly domed top of the cage is cut with a diamond-shaped lattice pattern, with four larger cutouts forming a symmetrical motif. The rotating metal handles also serve to lock the openings. A fine example of folk art. Suggestion: Rather than a more rustic hunting birdcage, this could be a transport cage for a singing competition bird.
