"Luxurious Copper, Italy, Early 18th Century"
Magnificent repoussé and engraved copper bucket from the early 18th century, origin Italy (possibly Tuscany). Large diabolo-shaped body decorated in the upper part with friezes of leaves on a matte background and convex circles under the turned and riveted rim. The lower part shows a profusion of scrolling foliage serving as a medallion with various subjects such as birds and profile heads; as well as a "sunburst" coat of arms under a crown. Two square-section side handles are riveted to the top. The base is slightly domed and decorated with an unusual animal amidst foliage. Two holes are visible at the bottom (approximately 4 mm in diameter), and there is wear on some of the raised details (indicated by arrows in a close-up photo), almost imperceptible from the outside. Despite the stated signs of wear, this object remains remarkable for its metalwork and excellent provenance. Note: the lower part of the handles is not fixed, giving the piece a very elegant look. I can provide further close-up photos upon request. Shipping: €20 for mainland France. Other destinations: please contact me.
