The Apothecary At His Work Gouache On Parchment Early 18th Century
Artist: Ecole Flamande
Interesting subject of the apothecary in his office, gouache on parchment from the early 18th century. Classic and traditional Flemish subject in the realism of the scene (I am attaching in the series of photos the example of an oil on canvas on the same theme and from the same period). Everything is represented there: the apothecary at his work accompanied by his assistant, the bottles of Florence, a reference work, a pharmacy jar, metal utensils, an hourglass to control the cooking of the preparations, heads of garlic, a human skull etc. The entire painting shows wear, and we see slight deformations of the support, nevertheless, it is still possible to appreciate this entire genre scene. Protected under glass, dimensions at sight: 18 cm x 14.5 cm, in a modern 17th century style frame. Note: Small anecdotal and amusing detail: the smiling apothecary seems proud of his work while his assistant in the background seems bored. Delivery: €15 for mainland France
