"First Empire Travel Knives"
Two travel knives in their sheaths, early 19th century.
Each knife has a mother-of-pearl handle with a ferrule and tip, probably made of gold (low fineness), with a lovely engraved flower decoration.
Coat of arms inlaid on each handle with the initials: C C One steel blade engraved: A PARIS; slight signs of wear. One silver blade with the guarantee hallmark Paris 1809-1819 (helmeted man's head within a circle); first fineness hallmark auc oq, diamond-shaped silversmith's hallmark.
These knives are preserved in their original red leather sheath, with a green chamois interior and a fully functional snap closure. Length of each knife: 19.5 cm, blade length: 10.5 cm. Signs of use are evident on the sheath, which remains in good overall condition.
