Art Deco Alabaster Sculpture – “skier On One Knee” By Guisto Viti
A magnificent Art Deco alabaster sculpture depicting a young female skier kneeling as she adjusts her skis. This work was created based on a model by the Italian sculptor Guisto Viti and dates from the 1920s–1930s. It is carved from alabaster and rests on a rectangular alabaster pedestal with ornate detailing. The sculpture bears Guisto Viti’s engraved signature and is distinguished by the finesse of its details, the texture of the winter clothing and hat, the young woman’s graceful posture, and the clean lines characteristic of the Art Deco style.
