Child With A Small Dog And A Frog – Bronze Sculpture Signed J. D’aste
A magnificent 19th-century bronze sculpture depicting a child tenderly holding a small dog in his arms, while the dog gazes with fascination at a frog perched on the rocky ground. This charming French sculpture, which is exceptionally detailed, was crafted with great attention to detail. The child’s expression, the delicate texture of the dog’s coat, and the anatomy are all remarkably well-crafted. The little frog, depicted very realistically among the rocks, adds a playful and original touch to this lively scene. The sculpture is clearly signed on the bronze base by the artist J. d’Aste, Giuseppe d’Aste (1881–1945). The work dates from the late 19th or early 20th century and is cast in bronze with a warm brown patina enhanced by subtle golden accents. The piece rests on an elegant base of richly veined green marble, adorned with a delicate bronze border. The sculpture is in excellent condition, authentic, and features a magnificent natural patina of age that further highlights the charm, character, and quality of this exceptional work of art.
