Nicolas Lupot
Nicolas Lupot (Stuttgart, 1758 - Paris, 1824) is a French luthier who notably practiced in Orléans (where his family had settled), first during the reign of Louis XVI, then for Louis XVIII during the First Restoration . He was nicknamed the "French Stradivarius" for the exceptional quality of his instruments. His violins are strongly inspired by those of Antonio Stradivari (1644-1737). He leaves his name to a Stradivarius violin from 1727.
