Napoleon III
Discover this French clock from the Napoleon III period, dating from around 1860. This refined work of art is crafted from gilded bronze and depicts the classic mythological scene of the triumphal chariot of Diana (Diana the Huntress), the Roman goddess of the hunt.
Diana is proudly depicted in her chiseled chariot, recognizable by the bow in her hand and the quiver on her back. The chariot is drawn by a stag in full stride, whose details and metal reins.
The movement is integrated into the wheel of the war chariot. The white enamel dial with Roman numerals is framed by a engraved bezel, giving the piece a particularly look.
The clock rests on an a oval base made of gilded bronze, whose front is adorned with a decorative relief featuring hunting motifs, in perfect harmony with the piece’s mythological theme.
