A beautiful antique sculpture in carved white marble depicting a young girl, an allegory of “Scripture.” The work is signed on the back by T. Cipriani, a 19th-century sculptor. The base bears the inscription “ÉCRITURE.” On the back there is also an old engraved dedication: “Louis and his family to their dear Captain Famy.”
Very fine sculptural work, with particular attention to detail in the face, hair, hands, and drapery. The marble features lovely natural cream-white hues.
Dimensions: 23 × 17 cm, height 26 cm.
In good overall condition considering its age. Scratches and signs of wear are visible in the photos.
