Wrought-iron Gimbal-mounted Cellar Lamp – Winemaker's Candlestick, Cellar Candlestick – 19th Century
An interesting 19th-century wrought-iron cellar lamp, designed to illuminate cellars and wine cellars.
This winemaker’s candlestick features an ingenious gimbal system that keeps the candle upright thanks to its articulated cup.
It can be mounted on a wooden stand using its curved upper rod, or used as a handheld candlestick. A small locking tab secures the mechanism in place.
A beautiful handcrafted piece of wrought iron, featuring a dark brown antique patina and signs of wear.
An interesting example of folk art and historic winemaking accessories.
