Art Nouveau Cherub Pyrography, Angel – Attributed To Auguste Moreau, Circa 1900, With A Patina Finish.
A charming little pyrogen made of regule with a light brown patina, depicting a cherub seated on an upturned bucket that serves as a match holder. The composition rests on a circular base decorated with plant motifs in the naturalistic style of Art Nouveau.
Although unsigned, this piece can be linked to the work of Auguste Moreau due to the quality of its modeling and, above all, the remarkable expressiveness of the figure’s face. The slightly tilted head and the figure’s dreamy demeanor lend it a particularly endearing presence.
A charming piece from the Belle Époque, both decorative and representative of the artistry of small smoking accessories produced around 1900.
