Solid Elm Dining Table With Built-in Extension, Luigi Gorgoni, Circa 1970
A solid elm dining table by Luigi Gorgoni, rectangular in shape with beveled corners
The tabletop is made of wide elm planks with very expressive grain, featuring knots and flecks, and its warm honey-colored patina complements the piece’s understated elegance.
The central base consists of vertical elm slats assembled into a column, held together by large exposed wooden dowels, creating an architectural effect that is raw yet highly controlled.
The tabletop opens into two sections, which slide along metal tracks to reveal the extension leaf, stored inside the base.
Spring-loaded fasteners hold everything securely in place. A generously sized table that easily transitions from everyday use to hosting large gatherings.
Condition: good, shows signs of use. Tabletop in fine condition, with slight signs of wear and minor variations in color due to the solid wood. Opening mechanism is functional.
