A rare kitchen set comprising a table and four chairs by André Sornay, a Lyon-based cabinetmaker and designer, made around 1955. Each piece features a tubular black lacquered metal frame, a tabletop and seats in light laminate with exposed edges, highlighted by orange-red lacquered backrests. This set exemplifies the pursuit of efficiency, robustness, and clean lines that characterized Sornay's furniture in the 1950s, continuing his tradition of using rods. A sensitive testament to French modernist domestic design, both functional and charming. The set comes from a Lyon apartment fully furnished with Sornay pieces.
