Watercolour of the Scottish Highlands by Percy Dixon. Percy Dixon (born in 1862 in Southport, United Kingdom, and died in 1924) was a renowned British painter and watercolourist. He was particularly renowned for his landscapes depicting natural scenery, rivers, and mountain scenes (notably landscapes of the Scottish Highlands, but also other picturesque regions). Active as early as the 1880s, he exhibited his works throughout his career and became a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1915. A watercolour from 1885 thus represents an early work, created when he was just in his early twenties and was still refining his landscape style.
