"Joseph Linossier. View Of The Park Of The Château De l'étang In Bagnolet (seine-saint-denis). [1873-1876]"
Watercolor. 72.5 x 105 cm, mounted on a wooden panel, in a frame (without glass) measuring 86 x 118.5 cm. The drawing is accompanied by letterhead from landscape architect Joseph Linossier in Lyon La Demi-Lune (Rhône). It is written: "Painting representing the: Park of the Château de l'Étang de la ville, Ville de Bagnolet" and "Painting produced between 1873 and 1876", followed by a list of the works of the J. Linossier company: "Park of the Château de Vaurenard (69), Park of Lacroix Laval (69), Château de Lizérieux (07), Villa Marius Bulet (Lyon), Manor of Châteauvieux Ste Catherine (69), Château la Bretonnière (26)". The land and the pond of Bagnolet were purchased in 1873 by the rentier Charles Frédéric Bühler who had the castle built there and the park laid out. Bühler died in 1933 and the castle and its park were sold to the town of Bagnolet in 1942. In the 18th century, the waters of the pond had been used to supply the fountains of the Château de Bagnolet, property of the Duchess of Orléans.Ref. A11-45
