Paésine: Utah Landscape Sandstone
"Landscape Rock" from Kanab, Utah (United States).
Geologically, this is a sandstone—iconic to southern Utah—formed from immense sand dunes that were petrified by sedimentation more than 150 to 200 million years ago, with alternating layers of sand and iron oxides arranged in successive sedimentary laminations.
A rare specimen. It is reminiscent of Italian "paesine."
A beautiful, carefully cut sandstone specimen that does not crumble. Beautiful colors.
From a historic mineral and paleontological collection.
Dimensions 14.5 x 7.5 cm
Thickness ~ 1.3 cm
