Antique Spindle For Skeins, Made Of Turned Wood, Second Half Of The 19th Century
Antique folding spinning wheel made of turned wood, a tool designed to transform a skein—of wool or yarn—into a ball.
The upper part consists of articulated wooden slats that form a foldable support designed to hold skeins of wool or yarn. The mechanism is completed by a side knob that allows the assembly to be adjusted and locked in place.
The presence of a turned wooden tripod base, a lower circular metal ring, and articulated wooden arms suggests European production from the second half of the 19th century.
This model stands out for the quality of its turning and for the circular metal cage in the center, an element that is both decorative and functional. Fully disassemblable and collapsible, it offers an interesting glimpse into the household accessories used for spinning and knitting in the second half of the 19th century (circa 1850–1880).
In good condition, with normal signs of use and wear consistent with the object’s age.
