Pair Of Antique Cut‑crystal Whisky Decanters With Engraved Coronet, Victorian Period
Fine pair of cut crystal whisky decanters, English production from the Victorian period, late 19th to early 20th century.
Bodies with vertical faceted panels highlighted by subtle bluish streaks.
Each piece features, on the front, an engraved shield surmounted by a noble coronet.
Original stoppers, cut to a point and perfectly fitted.
Condition report:
- First decanter: very good condition, no chips, slight haze at the bottom.
- Second decanter: used condition, showing a small chip on one edge of the body and two small chips under the base; also a slight haze at the bottom, consistent with age and use. The defects are shown in the final photographs.
The use of a whisky decanter serves several purposes:
1- light aeration, helping to soften young or strongly marked spirits;
2- decanting of possible sediment in non–chill-filtered whiskies; 3- presentation, as the decanter enhances the visual appeal of the spirit.
