"in The Studio." Oil On Canvas By Bertrand Mogniat-duclos (1903–1987)
Artist: Bertrand Mogniat-duclos
This very beautiful Expressionist painting depicts the artist painting his model in his studio. A third figure, the guitarist, adds to this exquisitely executed genre scene. When looking at this painting, one is immediately drawn into the atmosphere, as if invited to join them.
Bertrand Mogniat-Duclos (1903–1987) was born in Isère. He soon left his family home to settle in Paris, where he spent his entire career as a painter, draftsman, and illustrator.
Working alongside his friend Amédée de la Patellière, he adopted “a sense of solid volume and compositional balance.” This perfectly sums up our painting.
