Pierre Gogois is a French painter, ceramicist, interior designer, and muralist born in 1935. He is one of those artists whose work has been radically shaped by the conflict between abstraction and figuration. He has often painted views of Paris under different lighting conditions, sometimes at night. He has held numerous exhibitions around the world (Belgium, Germany, Italy, the United States, Venezuela, Hong Kong, the Philippines, etc.) as well as in France, including a 2007 retrospective in Paris that traced his 50-year career. In 1974, a Swiss patron built him a museum in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence dedicated entirely to his works. Several of his paintings are on display at the Musée des Invalides and the Musée de Liège.
