Artist: Maurice Savin

Maurice Savin, born October 17, 1894, in Moras-en-Valloire (Drôme), died March 17, 1973, in Paris

A graduate of the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Maurice Savin began his career as a painter, engraver, and illustrator before turning to ceramics in 1933. He was also a lithographer and a designer of tapestry and stained-glass cartoons. Through his collaboration with the Compagnie des Arts français,

His rural scenes, odes to the vineyard, and full-figured female nudes celebrate his love of life through the warm, exhilarating hues of ochres and reds.

Savin is a well-rounded artist. He exercises his talents across multiple mediums where forms and colors, light and movement harmonize, reinforce one another, and give free rein to his vision—realistic yet sensitive—in a highly personal poetic style
