Louis XVI-style Trumeau With Green Paneling And Gilded Wood, Circa 1800
Crafted from gilded, carved wood against a green-glazed background, our trumeau features, at the top, within a beaded medallion, a figure of Cupid in bas-relief, crowned with a laurel wreath. The woodwork is entirely carved with a symmetrical design of leaves and water lilies on intertwined branches from which pearls hang.
The mirror, set in a molded frame carved with “heart stripes,” rests on fluted edges that encase a frieze of symmetrical, curling branches.
Our piece, of very fine quality, is a perfect example of the Louis XVI style, incorporating a wide range of decorative elements from the period.
