Gérard Simoen (born 1949) – *éclatement Blanc* – Plaster Painting-sculpture – 1972
Gérard SIMOEN (born 1949)
Éclatement blanc, 1972.
A large sculptural plaster relief featuring an abstract, highly textured composition.
The artist creates a succession of organic forms, combining folded, cracked and granular surfaces with clusters of spheres of varying sizes.
The interplay of textures and relief creates shifting patterns of light and shadow, changing with the angle of illumination and giving the work an almost living quality.
This monochromatic composition reflects the artistic experimentation of the early 1970s, exploring the boundaries between painting, sculpture and Art Informel.
Signed and dated “72” in the lower right corner.
Presented in its original brushed aluminium frame.
We are currently in direct contact with Gérard Simoen, who has kindly offered to clean the work himself. This intervention is intended to restore the brightness of the plaster while respecting the original materials and the artist's technique.
